Just Us

A well-planned and
jubilant time was had by all. This was an effort of the
ministry to inspire others to enjoy others company and
share God’s unconditional love.
Upon entering the D. W.
Hoggard Fellowship Hall on Noon Thursday, October 29, 2009,
the Just Us members and friends were greeted graciously by
Sis. Irene Williams. We were presented a program conducted
by President Doris Jackson; it also included an Invocation
and Blessing of the meal by Reverend Albert F. Campbell
followed by lunch. Our servers for the afternoon were
Rowena Carolina, Laura Lane, Kelly M. Stewart and Dwain C.
Jones.
Oh my! We feasted on a
healthy salad, two kinds of fresh water fish, savory greens,
candied sweet potatoes, mouthwatering cornbread, and topped
off with a variety of cakes and pies. It was as you can
attest, a feast fit for a king or queen, enjoyed by all
along with a rewarding fellowship. I would suggest that you
make this event a must next year. The afternoon ended with
closing remarks and benediction by Deacon Lee Little.
The
ministry was founded in 1997 by our first lady Sister Ruth
Arlyne Price Campbell. The purpose for this ministry is to
promote seniors into Christian fellowship and interaction
through their talents, to be aware of and bring forward
any and all information
available to seniors and to
aid and assist them in anyway possible. This is also done
through social activities such as outings, luncheons, and
dinners.
In May 1999, the group was
reorganized and renamed “Just Us” by Sister Ruth Arlyne
Price Campbell. Currently our leadership is as follows:
Doris Jackson, President Marjorie Stokes, Vice President,
Treasurer Audrey Johnson, Secretary Mary Lucas, Assistant
Secretary Margaret Holden, Corresponding Secretary Vanessa
Thomas, Chaplain/Travel Coordinator Ruby Bullock, Food
Coordinator
Do come and join us!! You
are welcome with open arms. Meetings are held on the last
Thursday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the church
Multipurpose Room. We will be looking forward to seeing you.
